Chipmunk 1
is team leader is Howard Cook who worked as part of the
Messerschmitt Display Team operating the well known Duxford-based
109G ‘Black 6’ for nine years and was Display Director at
Rougham for four seasons. He has flown a range of vintage types and
led the Tiger Moth team ‘Little Diamond’ for three seasons.
Qualified on the MkV Spitfire Howard flies with the
Historic
Aircraft Collection and last season was flying their Storch and
Hurricane. In 2005 Howard was part of the epic
Merlins Over Malta
project. Howard flies G-BYSJ operated by of the Silver Victory
Collection based at Duxford.
Chipmunk 2
is Clive Denney. Clive has worked on a number of worldwide
restoration projects including the B17 Sally B, numerous Spitfires
and Hurricanes, Aero Vintage Hawker Nimrods and various Messerschmitt
109s. He is in demand both as a display pilot and for his fabric and
paintwork skills on historic aircraft with his company
Vintage
Fabrics . Clive flies for the
Historic Aircraft Collection
displaying their Spitfire V and Hurricane and in 2005 led the epic
Merlins Over Malta project. Clive flies G-BWUT of the Historic
Aircraft Collection based at Duxford.
Chipmunk 3
is Ian Davies, a private pilot with 2,000 hours on various
types including multi and helicopter. He is part of the editorial and
photographic team at
PILOT magazine and completed his first season on
the display circuit in 2005. Ian flies G-AOSY of the Seething
Chipmunk Group
Chipmunk 4
is
Chris Harper (or - to give him his formal title - Air Vice-Marshal
Christopher Harper CBE) is the Chief of Staff for Operations at HQ RAF
Strike Command. Chris has over 4,500 hours flying time including more
than 2,500 hours on Jaguars and some 900 hours on the F-18. He
commanded No 41(F) squadron and was the Station Commander at RAF
Coltishall before working on the introduction of Typhoon into
operational service. He flies Grob Tutors with No 5AEF at RAF Wyton
and his civilian flying includes instructing at the North Weald Yak-52
Formation School and displaying Glenn Waters’ space age Berkut. He is
also half way through the construction of a Vans RV8. Chris flies G-BXDG
of the Felthorpe Chipmunk Group.
